I’m going to write a horror movie so I am watching a bunch of horror movies to try and figure out what I want to do and what scares me the most. I watched Hatchet last night on Netflix and it’s a fine movie for what it is, but I don’t think a creature feature/slasher movie is what I want to do. I always find them to be really cartoony, which is great, but it’s not scary. The movies that really scare me are movies about real people killing real people. Movies like The Shining, Psycho, American Psycho, and especially Funny Games. This movie truly frightens me.
The only problem is, if I am going to write a frightening movie like that, there probably won’t be much room for jokes, which is my favorite thing to write! We’ll see how this goes.
